Its a quilt pattern for a rag quilt that also doubles as a car seat canopy. It is a fun and quick sew. I don't know about you, but there are so many times that I put off making a present for that sweet baby that is on its way. I have 9 months to get it done right? Then I end up getting the invitation for the baby shower. It's a couple weeks away, right? Plenty of time!
Then the night before, my husband {or phone} reminds me of the impending gift giving time.
Crap!
I am master procrastinator
I messed up...once again
Thankfully, this pattern is so quick and easy, I don't have to stay up all night making the perfect gift. It will only take me a couple hours.
Please tell me I am not the only one?!
I have found that it is so hard to find unique, fun, and not too babyish of gifts for boys. There are always every type of gift imaginable for little girls, but man, those boys are hard to make/shop for.
This pattern is so much fun because it combines a little bit of baby boy, and a little bit of modern boy.
Plus, I love these rag quilts turned car seat canopy's because once the baby has outgrown their infant car seat, then the mom can still use the canopy as a blanket. It is perfect to throw into the stroller for a walk, or to use in a pinch if they are a nursing mommy.
Now for the secret....when the lovely mommy opens your gift, she is going to think you spent hours, upon hours, upon hours making this gift for her and her baby. Let her think that....ok. She doesn't know that you put it off til the last minute, she doesn't need to know that it really is an easy think to make. Because guess what. She will love it regardless, so let her think you are amazing. Wanna know why? Because you really are amazing!
There are few different places that you can purchase this pattern. It doesn't matter to me which method you use. Whichever is easiest for you

I have also used this pattern to make a baby quilt instead of doing the car seat tent. I wrote about it in May and you can see the full post about the Dinosaur Baby Rag Quilt HERE
